Poured a slab in Austin last July and the finisher skipped the mid-slab control joint

It cracked diagonal from the corner 3 days later during the heat wave, and now the homeowner wants me to rip it all out what would you do?

Was the slab on a vapor barrier or gravel base? In Austin's heat, that ground moisture differential alone can pull a corner crack if it wasn't properly prepped. I've seen finishers skip control joints on driveways before and blame everything but that - but three days is awfully fast for a full diagonal crack unless the subgrade was shifting. Was there any rebar or wire mesh in that corner, or was it just plain concrete with no reinforcement?

Agree with @lisa_brown that missing reinforcement plus bad base prep is a recipe for cracks fast like that.
