Old timer at the supply yard said to wait 30 minutes before floating, and I was dead wrong to doubt him
Back in April I was pouring a 12 by 20 slab for a shed in Wichita, and an older finisher named Ray at the supply yard said to let the bleed water disappear and give it a good 30 minutes before I touched it with a float. I was in a hurry because rain was coming, so I started floating at about 10 minutes in, and the surface tore up on me in three spots. Had to wait it out anyway and then work those spots twice as hard to get them smooth. Cost me an extra hour and a half, and my arms paid for it the next morning. Anyone else have a guy whose plain advice sounded too slow until you tried it your way and ate it?
