Old school broom finish vs. the new rubber squeegee method I tried last month
I've been doing broom finishes for 20 years and finally gave that rubber squeegee deal a shot on a big driveway in Denver. Got the surface done in half the time but the texture looked too uniform and slick compared to what I'm used to. Anybody else stick with the old way or am I just set in my ways?

To answer @lunawilson's question, yes that's exactly what happened with mine too. The blade was skipping right over the bigger rocks and leaving these flat spots that looked too smooth. I ended up going back over it with a broom after the squeegee just to break up the surface a bit. For smaller jobs like walkways or patios I'd still use the old broom finish, no question about it. But if you're doing a big slab in a hurry, the squeegee can work if you keep it at the right angle and don't let it ride up.
