My old boss in Denver said to always use a 4-foot level on garage floors, not a 2-foot

I thought he was just being picky, but on a pour last month my 2-footer missed a low spot that pooled water. Had to grind it out after it set, which cost me half a day. Anyone else run into this on slab work?
