My go-to trick for fixing bell ends on the fly
I was out on a job last summer in Phoenix and we kept getting bell ends that were slightly too tight. The pipes just wouldnt slide together smooth and I was losing my mind. My foreman had left early so I was on my own. I remembered reading somewhere about using a heat gun to warm the bell end just a little bit to make it more flexible. I grabbed mine from the truck and gave it a try on one of the stubborn 4 inch pipes. After about 30 seconds of heating it up and working it around the pipe slid in perfect. No cracks no damage just a clean fit. Saved me from having to cut and redo three joints that day. Has anyone else tried this or got a better way to handle tight bells?

You ever do something that works so good you almost feel guilty about it? Heat gun trick is legit. I tried it once with a hair dryer from a hotel room cause I was in a pinch and forgot mine. Worked like a charm until the dryer melted a little bit. Lesson learned: stick to the heat gun unless you want to explain to your wife why her hair dryer looks like a melted prop from a horror movie.
