My buddy Frank in Denver said my broom finish looked like a cat walked through it.
He told me I was holding the broom at the wrong angle and pushing too hard, basically just dragging the surface. I started tilting it up more and using a lighter touch, and the next patio I did for Mrs. Henderson looked way more even. Anyone else get a piece of feedback that totally fixed a simple technique?

Funny you say that, it's amazing how much easier things get when you stop trying so hard. I've been there with just about everything from mixing dough to having tough conversations. Sometimes you gotta remind yourself that forcing it usually backfires. Solidarity on that one for sure.
