I was holding the magnesium float wrong for a solid two years

My buddy from the crew in Tacoma was watching me finish a garage floor and just said, 'Dude, you're fighting it.' I had my hand way too far back on the handle, putting all my weight into it like a shovel. He showed me to choke up and let the tool do the work, just guiding it. The finish smoothed out instantly with half the effort. How many other little habits like that are we all carrying around without knowing?

It's like driving with the parking brake on, you just get used to the extra struggle.

Yeah I get what you mean @jamieh76, but I see it a little differently. I think those little habits actually add up over time and make jobs way harder than they need to be. Like if you're always fighting your tool grip or stance, you're wasting energy that could go into making cleaner cuts or working faster. It's not about never muscling through something, but fixing the small stuff can save you a ton of frustration later.

Nah, that's overthinking it... sometimes you just gotta muscle through a job. If it gets done, who cares how you hold the tool?
