I finally had a day where everything went right on a big slab pour
Last Tuesday we poured a 40x60 foot pad for a new garage in Danville, and not a single thing went wrong. The weather held up, the crew showed early, and the mix came in at perfect slump. Has anyone else had one of those rare perfect days where you just step back and admire the finish?

My last perfect pour was a 30x50 slab for a buddies shed back in 2018 and I got so excited I tripped over a rebar stake and landed face first in the wet concrete. Still got a nice scar on my elbow that looks like a weird tattoo. The crew still brings it up every time we do a slab, asking if I'm gonna "admire the finish" from the ground again. Pretty sure god balances out the good days with a little humility check.

Haha dude that's brutal! A guy I used to work with did something similar on a driveway pour. He was so proud of the finish he backed up to show the homeowner and stepped right into a fresh wheelbarrow full of mud. Took him a good 10 seconds to realize what happened and by then his boot was stuck and he tipped the whole thing over. They still call him "Wheelbarrow Walt" on every job site.
