Had to choose between a bull float and a jitterbug on a weirdly hot patio pour in Austin

Went with the jitterbug to close the surface faster, but the heat made it set up so quick I was basically chasing it with a trowel. Anyone ever have a tool choice completely backfire because of the weather?

Man, that reminds me of the time I tried to use a power washer on a deck in full sun. The wood was so hot and dry it just drank the water and started splintering almost instantly. Had to switch to a garden hose and a soft brush, which took three times as long.

Actually, that's called wood fuzzing, not splintering.
