Unpopular take: old CRT monitors were better for certain diagnostic work

I ran across a study from the Journal of Display Technology showing CRT refresh rates caused less eye fatigue during prolonged code debugging sessions compared to modern LCDs. Anyone else still keep an old CRT around for specific tasks?

Picked up a Sony Trinitron off Facebook Marketplace for $20 specifically for looking at x-rays and old medical scans. The blacks are way better and I can actually see detail in the shadows. Do you calibrate yours or just run it stock?

Wait, have you checked if the phosphors on that Trinitron are still evenly aged? I mean, those tubes get hotter in spots over time, and with medical scans even a slight burn-in could mess with what you're seeing. Most people just tweak brightness and contrast, but I'd actually set it to a really low sharpness. Those old Sony's had edge enhancement that adds weird halos around small details in x-rays.
