Took me 3 hours to find a loose ground wire on a Dell Optiplex

I had a machine that would randomly freeze and I chased drivers and memory for 2 hours before I noticed the power supply ground screw was barely finger tight. Anybody else spend way too long on something simple before checking the basics?

Honestly I gotta push back on this one. Let me start with something specific: my Dell Optiplex 3040 has been running solid for three years without me ever touching the power supply ground screw. The truth is most hardware problems actually are software or driver related, not physical connections. I've seen so many people waste hours checking screws and cables when the real issue was a corrupted Windows update or a bad memory timing in the BIOS. Ngl, blaming the ground wire feels like a convenient scapegoat when you don't want to admit you missed something in Device Manager or Event Viewer. Really think about it, how often does a loose ground cause random freezes compared to a bad driver or overheating CPU?

Paint me impressed, @jennifer_west survived three years without a ground screw while most of us can't go a week without stepping on a Lego in the dark. Guess your Dell just really trusts you not to zap it out of spite.

So @harper_owens, does your Dell have a ground screw or did you just get lucky?
