The shipping label printer that made me check our UPS rates twice

So I'm working through a batch of returns for a client in Omaha and I spot a thermal label misprint, the tracking number came out as a string of zeros instead of the actual digits. I dug into the driver settings and found the label template was pulling from a cached file that hadn't updated since 2019, which is wild because the software said it was current. How often do you guys actually verify your label templates are pulling live data, or is this just me being paranoid after one weird afternoon?

Man, that cached file thing is sneakier than people give it credit for, because it doesn't just sit there doing nothing, it keeps spitting out labels that look totally normal until someone actually scans one and the whole thing falls apart. What gets me is how the software will swear up and down that it's current, so you end up trusting the screen instead of the paper coming out of the printer. If I were you I'd take it one step further and spot check a label by scanning the tracking number before the batch even goes out, not after. It's a two second habit that saves you from a very long afternoon of explaining to a client why their packages vanished into the void.
