The day a customer's question made me realize I'd been crimping RJ45s backwards for 6 years

I was wiring up a new office in Austin last month and a client asked why my keystone jacks had the clip facing down instead of up like the other contractors. I looked it up and turns out the standard is clip down for wall plates, but I had been doing it clip up on patch panels too. Anyone else ever have a stupid habit like that that took someone else pointing out to fix?

idk maybe it's just me but I feel like this kind of thing happens way more often than people admit. Like how everyone sets their microwave clock differently or loads the dishwasher their own way until someone visits and is like "wait why is everything sideways." It's wild how a tiny detail can be wrong for years without anyone catching it.

Wow, @stella279 hit it on the head. I spent years installing ceiling fans with the pull chain on the wrong side until a neighbor pointed it out. For me, I just started labeling things with a little sticky note right on the tool or part until the new way felt natural.
