Stopped a PC meltdown with a five minute fan clean

A customer brought in a machine that kept shutting off under load. Everyone online said to replace the thermal paste or upgrade cooling. I just took off the side panel and blew out the dust bunnies. Now it runs cool and quiet. Techs who skip this simple step are wasting everyone's time.

On Reddit, many posts blame dust for shutdowns.

So you're telling me Reddit has never seen the inside of a neglected PC before? Half those posts are from people who haven't cleaned their fans since they bought the thing. I saw one photo where the dust bunnies had formed their own little government in there. It's always easier to blame mysterious dust than admit you might have caused the problem by never opening the case. Honestly, Reddit would blame the dust for a bad hair day if it could. Those machines just need a good cleaning and maybe a tiny vacuum.

Remember dust actually does cause overheating shutdowns by blocking airflow.
