Spent 6 hours on a no-boot PC that turned out to be one bent CPU pin
A customer dropped off a desktop last Tuesday that wouldn't post, and I figured it was a dead board or bad RAM. I swapped the power supply, tried two different sticks of memory, and even reseated the graphics card twice, all with no luck. Around hour five I pulled the cooler off to check the thermal paste and spotted one pin on the CPU socket bent just slightly out of line. I straightened it with a needle under a magnifier, dropped the chip back in, and the thing booted on the first try. What's the longest you've chased a problem that ended up being something tiny like that?
