Spent 3 years telling customers to reinstall Windows before I checked the drive health first
I used to nuke and reload any machine that came in slow, until a laptop from a dental office in Mesquite came back 3 times in one month and the SMART data showed the drive was dying the whole time. Now I run a 30 second crystal disk check before I touch anything, saves me hours of pointless reinstalls. Anybody else guilty of skipping the basics just cause a fresh install feels like the easy win?
