Just realized I was wrong about those cheap thermal paste syringes
A client in Seattle brought in a gaming rig with constant overheating. I was about to recommend a pricier brand, but he insisted on using the $8 tube he had. The temps dropped 12 degrees Celsius after we applied it. Anyone have a budget paste that actually works well?

The client insisting on the $8 tube is honestly the real hero here. I've been burned by expensive pastes that dry out in six months, but some cheap stuff just keeps working. The phrase "constant overheating" caught my eye because that's usually a mounting pressure issue, not just the paste. But if a cheap tube dropped 12 degrees, that paste is doing its job. Don't let the fancy brands fool you into thinking more money equals better heat transfer. Sometimes the budget options are just as good or better, especially if they're fresh.
