I used to think a clean install was always the answer for a slow PC, but this one repair shop in Omaha changed my mind
They spent 30 minutes cleaning out startup programs and temp files on a client's 5 year old laptop instead of doing a full wipe, and it ran like new. Everyone says to nuke it from orbit, but sometimes the simpler fix is actually better. When do you guys decide a clean install is actually necessary versus just doing a deep clean?

Only if the OS itself is corrupted, otherwise just clean it up.

Honestly, why not just use the reset tool anyway? I've cleaned up so many slow computers that way. It saves time over hunting down every single problem. You keep your files but the fresh OS install makes a huge difference. Tbh it's my go-to fix even when things just feel off.

Windows 10's reset tool can do that clean install.
