There's always been this old joke about downloading RAM, but it's funny how some folks take it literally. The idea probably started as a prank on tech forums years ago, and now kids pass it around without realizing it's a joke. Your buddy at least had the right idea - just save up and buy the real hardware. Those scam download sites usually just install malware anyway, which actually slows your computer down even more.

Did you actually hear someone say that? I had a buddy in high school who tried to convince me you could download more RAM from a sketchy website, and I told him to just save up for a real stick. He ended up getting a job at a pizza place and bought the RAM the next month, which worked way better than any download ever could.
