Heard a kid at Micro Center call a PS/2 port 'retro USB' and I just stood there
I was picking up a SATA cable at the Micro Center on Rockville Pike last Friday when I heard this guy in his early 20s ask his buddy what the purple round port on the back of a refurb tower was for, and when the friend shrugged, he said it was probably some old Apple thing. I almost jumped in but just watched them walk off to the laptop aisle instead. I started on boards where PS/2 was the only way to plug in a mouse and you had to match the purple to the purple or nothing worked. It hit me that the stuff I learned by breaking things is now trivia nobody needs, which is fine, but it makes me wonder what a new tech skips today that'll bite them later. What's a thing you had to learn the hard way that a rookie now would never even run into?
