Everyone swears by thermal paste spreads but I just checked 50 laptops with the pea method vs spread method and got nearly identical temps on all of them.
I ran the test after seeing a debate on a repair forum and was honestly surprised the difference was only 1-2 degrees C across the board, has anyone else actually tested this systematically instead of just going with the hype?

Did you even out the paste thickness and pressure across all 50 of those laptops?

People get way too caught up in the small stuff like exact paste thickness, but ignore the bigger problems like dust buildup or bad fans. Over the years I've fixed dozens of laptops, and I've seen perfect paste jobs fail because the cooling fins were packed solid. You can drive yourself crazy chasing perfect paste when the real fix is cleaning out the chassis. Lucas63 makes a good point about being careful, but chasing perfect science on fifty cheap laptops just isn't worth the time. At some point you gotta call it good and move on to the next job.
