Everyone raves about thermal paste replacement but I crunched the numbers

I saw a post on a hardware forum claiming you should replace thermal paste every 6 months for peak performance. I decided to test that on my own rigs over a year. I ran Cinebench before and after repasting 3 different machines at 6-month intervals. The average temp drop was 1.2 degrees Celsius, which is basically nothing in real world use. That stat came from my own spreadsheet I kept for 12 months with a $30 infrared thermometer. Why do we act like this is a critical maintenance step when the gains are this tiny? Has anyone else seen actual data that backs up the yearly repaste hype?

1.2 degrees is basically margin of error, not magic.
