Blew $300 on a thermal camera I never needed

Bought a FLIR unit for a heat soak hunt on a server rack in Phoenix, turned out the AC vent was just blocked by a box of cables I moved myself. Anyone else grab fancy gear before checking the obvious stuff first?

$300 hurts but at least you know the AC works now... I did the same with a $200 network tester when the real issue was a loose cable I could've reseated by hand. Fancy gear makes you feel smart until you realize you skipped the free fix. Guess that's the tax we pay for playing with toys...
