Lease renewal negotiation went sideways last month

Was sitting in a conference room at a strip mall in Phoenix. The landlord dropped a 15% rent hike on a 5 year renewal. I ran the numbers on my landscaping business right there on my phone. Called his bluff and walked. Found a better spot two blocks away for 8% less than my old rate. Has anyone else found that walking away gets you the best deal?
