Bet you the secret was the landlord finally dropped the rent below a kidney and a first born. Probably threw in free parking AND agreed to paint the walls something that isn't builder beige. That's the magic combo right there. Either that or the new tenant is blind and just felt around for the front door. Three years empty means SOMETHING was cursed, maybe a ghost that only pays in Monopoly money. I'd ask for a walkthrough with a priest before signing anything.
