Vent: My drysuit cuff seal failed 60 feet down off Catalina last month
Was doing a routine hull inspection on a mooring buoy chain near Avalon when my left wrist seal just split open. Water came rushing in so fast I thought I was gonna lose my shit for a second. Had to abort the dive and do a controlled ascent with one arm clamped against my chest. Anyone else dealt with a sudden seal failure mid-dive? What brand do you trust now?

Wait, did you have a latex or silicone seal? I've always run silicone because they seem to hold up better in cold water around Catalina. My left wrist seal started cracking after about 20 dives with a DUI suit, and I switched to a Si-Tech ring system for the wrist. It's a pain to install but now I can swap seals in about 5 minutes if one blows out. Never had a full failure mid-dive though, that sounds absolutely terrifying trying to stay calm while your suit fills up.

Yeah silicone is way better in cold water. Latex just gets brittle and gives up on you.
