Took me 6 years to stop kicking off the bottom on deep dives

I finally realized my air consumption was garbage because I kept kicking off the bottom to adjust position instead of just using my lift bag or a proper tie-off. A supervisor watched me burn through 300 psi in 5 minutes on a 90 foot pipeline inspection and asked why I was fighting the water instead of working with it. Has anyone else had that 'ah crap' moment where a simple habit was wrecking your bottom time for years?

Tbh does 300 psi feel like a lot or a little depending on whether you're breathing it or the guy watching you? I'd say that's roughly 3 minutes of panic or 10 minutes of chill, pick your poison.

Is burning 300 psi really that big of a deal?
