Surprised by how much weight a single lift bag can handle underwater

I was reading through the NOAA dive tables last month and found out a standard 50-pound lift bag can actually move up to 200 pounds if you inflate it right. That blew my mind because I always thought the rating was the max. I use them for salvage work near Galveston pier. Has anyone else tested the real limits on their lift bags?

Same here, totally changed how I plan my dives now (in a good way).

If you're not already logging your surface intervals and gas consumption after each dive, do it. Catches you off guard way less when you start factoring in real data instead of guessing.
