Pro tip: flipping my mask upside down during a wet pot dive stopped my fog problem
Last month I was doing a wet pot dive at a power plant intake and my mask fogged up so bad I was basically diving blind. A guy on the crew named Dale told me to spit in it, rub it around, and leave it flipped upside down on my face for about 30 seconds while I got my gear sorted. I figured he was messing with me but tried it anyway, and the thing stayed clear for the whole 40 minute shift. I've been diving for 11 years and nobody ever told me that. Anyone else got weird little mask tricks that actually work?
Wait, so flipping it upside down is doing the work, or is it the spit part? Dale told you to do both and now you can't tell which one actually fixed it. I've had good luck just letting a little water in the mask on purpose and swishing it around, the wet layer stops the fog from sticking to the lens. The upside down thing might just be keeping your breath off the glass while it sets up, which is a totally different reason than the spit.
