Old Kirby Morgan regs still beat the new ones for cold water

Swapped back to a 1990s Kirby Morgan EXO mask on a job in Puget Sound last month, and my face stayed warm while the two guys with newer setups were complaining about freeze-up every 20 min. Anyone else keep the old gear around for specific conditions or am I just being sentimental about something that's about to crack?

Man, that's wild that the old rubber held up that well, but did you check the hoses and exhaust valves for dry rot before you jumped in? Or is this thing just so beat up it's beyond caring about?
