Heard a safety guy say 'just hold your breath' on a job site last week
I was gearing up at the dock in Port Fourchon and overheard this new safety coordinator tell a tender to 'just hold your breath for a second' if his mask fogged up during a check. I had to walk over and ask if he was serious, because that's how you get someone hurt 80 feet down. The tender laughed it off but I saw him later talking to his supervisor about it. Has anyone else had to deal with a safety guy who clearly never dove a day in their life?

My uncle used to tell this story about a safety guy on a shrimp boat who told everyone to just "hold your breath and pop your ears" when they had issues equalizing. Dude ended up with a burst eardrum on his first real dive and never came back to the job. Some people really don't get how the whole pressure thing works lol.

Oh man, THIS. I watched a guy on my first boat trip try to "tough it out" and equalize by just plugging his nose and blowing HARD. His eardrum didn't burst but he had blood pouring out of his ear and couldn't hear right for a week.
