Went from cheap poly bags to mylar for my old comics, no going back
I had about 40 issues from the 70s and 80s sitting in those standard poly bags for maybe 5 years. Noticed some yellowing on a few covers so I switched them all over to archival-safe mylar bags from a local shop in Denver. The difference in how flat and bright the colors look is honestly crazy. Has anyone else seen a big change after swapping bag types for their older books?

Honestly, I think people overhype the mylar thing a bit lol. Ive had some old comics in regular poly bags for like a decade and they look fine to me, no yellowing at all. Maybe its more about how you store them or the climate in your place than just the bag material. I keep mine in a cool dark closet away from any windows and its been working great. Those archival bags are expensive too, not everyone can drop that kind of cash on a hobby. To each their own, but I wouldnt rush to switch over if your collection is in a stable environment.
