TIL the hard way that pressing comics is a real skill, not just a garage hobby

Tried flattening a bent Batman #423 I found at a flea market in Austin using a stack of encyclopedias and an iron on low. Ended up with a wavy cover that looks like it got caught in a rainstorm and a scorch mark near the spine. Spent 3 hours on YouTube watching a guy in gloves use a $400 press and felt like a total amateur. Guess I'll stick to bagging and boarding my finds, not restoring them. Anyone else ruin a decent back issue trying to DIY the fix?
