The week my local comic shop almost closed for good

It was last Tuesday when the owner, Mike, posted on the store's Instagram that rent went up 40% and he had a week to decide. The next day, a regular named Sarah started a GoFundMe, and by Friday we'd raised over $8,000 just from people buying back issues and sharing posts. What stood out was seeing a line of people, some I'd never even seen in there before, all buying something just to help. Has your shop ever faced something like this, and what did the regulars do?

We organized a big one-day sale that brought in the whole neighborhood.

Wonder if the city noticed a dip in water usage that day (you know, with everyone out of their houses at once).

Funny you mention water usage because I think my garden hose was the one thing keeping the entire block's water meter spinning that day. I swear I saw my lawn get greener just from all the neighbors leaving and the irrigation system finally getting a proper soak. My wife came home from your sale and asked why the front yard looked like a swamp. Guess that's what happens when you're the only guy on the street left to accidentally water the whole neighborhood. At least the grass appreciated the attention, even if I didn't.
