That one issue I kept skipping finally made me stop rolling my eyes at variant covers
I spent ages annoyed that people would pay $40-60 for a different drawing on the same comic. Then last month at my local shop I grabbed a variant of Detective Comics #1000 on a whim just to see what the fuss was about and honest to God that Jim Lee cover is still stuck in my head three weeks later. Anybody else have a variant that totally changed your mind and made you get it?

Gotta gently correct you on that Detective Comics #1000 mention. That book is actually from 2019, so it's been a few years now. But I get what you mean, the Jim Lee cover is a classic for a reason. Variants still feel like a cash grab to me most of the time, but every once in a while one hits just right and you remember why people go after them. I grabbed a Dell'Otto variant for a random Venom issue once and it's still hanging on my wall.

Hold up, are we really getting serious about the year a comic came out? I get the need for accuracy but it's not like someone said Detroit Comics #100 was the first issue ever. Jim Lee cover is a Jim Lee cover, period. I dunno, to me variant covers are just a way for publishers to get you to buy the same book twice. That Dell'Otto Venom is sweet though, I'll give you that.
