That $40 dollar convention exclusive I grabbed on a whim

I was at a local comic con back in March and saw this limited print from a minor artist. It was their first ever convention exclusive, numbered out of 200, and they were charging $40. I bought it thinking it would be worth something or at least look cool framed. Turns out the artist ended up reprinting the same image on their online store a week later for $15. Now I got a print worth less than the frame I'd need to buy for it. Anyone else get burned on exclusive stuff that ended up not being exclusive at all?

My buddy did something similar at a horror movie con. He dropped $50 on a "limited edition" poster that was supposedly only 100 copies. He even got it signed by the director. Two months later the same poster was on Amazon for $12 and the "limited edition" turned out to be 5000 copies. He still has it rolled up in a tube in his closet. Every time I bring it up he just sighs.

Wait, you mean the whole "exclusive" thing isn't always legit? I used to buy into that hype hard, but after seeing how many "limited" drops end up on Amazon for half the price, I'm way more careful now.
