Spent three hours trying to explain the Clone Saga to my cousin at a cookout

He asked a simple question about Spider-Man, and I thought I could give a quick answer. Two hot dogs and a plate of potato salad later, I was still drawing timelines on a napkin with a ketchup packet. I had to explain Ben Reilly, the Jackal, the 'real' Peter Parker thing, and why it all got undone. The worst part was when his eyes glazed over and he just said, 'So it was all a dream?' I lost a whole afternoon and a perfectly good napkin. Has anyone else ever gotten stuck in a comic book plot hole so deep you forget what day it is?
