Question about picking a convention for my first big trip
Last year I had to choose between going to the big New York Comic Con or a smaller local one in Ohio... I picked the Ohio one because it was cheaper and less overwhelming. Honestly, it was a great choice for a first timer, I got to actually talk to artists without huge lines. Has anyone else started with a smaller con before tackling the massive ones?

Oh man, I gotta push back on that, @lucas63. Getting lost is half the fun at SDCC. You see stuff you never planned on, stumble into random cool panels, and meet people you wouldn't find otherwise. Most of the best stuff at cons isn't on the map anyway. Your buddy probably found some hidden gem booth or a surprise signing while he was turned around.

Smart move. Big cons are like theme parks, you gotta build up your tolerance for the crowds. Your buddy at SDCC probably needed a map and a sherpa.
