Overheard a guy at the shop say he only reads collected editions

I was picking up some paint samples and heard a customer tell the clerk that single issues are a waste because you just have to wait for the next one. I've been buying floppies for 15 years and never thought about it that way. Has anyone else switched from single issues to trades and actually stuck with it?
