Overheard a guy at the LCS say he trades based on movie rumors

I was grabbing the new Batman issue at my shop in Portland and this older collector told his buddy he sells his keys the week before a trailer drops because he thinks fans are dumb enough to buy the hype. He's been doing it since 2016 and claims he's made like $4,000 off it. Has anyone else seen this pattern where comic fans get burned by studio announcements that never pan out?

So he's really banking on trailers actually dropping on schedule, or just hoping they don't?
