Just realized how much I miss the old comic shop vibe...

Spent about $80 on a slabbed 'key issue' last year, thinking it was a solid investment. It just sits in a box now, and I'd rather have the beat-up copy I could actually read. Anyone else feel like the collecting part has kinda taken over the fun of just being a fan?

Totally get that feeling! The chase for a perfect slab can really suck the joy out of just enjoying the stories. My favorite books are still the cheap, worn-out ones I actually read all the time.

But that chase is the whole point for some of us. You call it worn out, I see a book that's falling apart. A perfect slab is a piece of art that lasts. It shows respect for the story and the craft that made it. Why settle for a beat up copy when you can own a piece of history in top shape? The care in preserving it adds to my joy, it doesn't take away.
