I read the first 12 issues of a new series hoping it would click and wow it did not
I picked up the first 12 issues of a big new series at my local shop in Fresno, mostly because the guy behind the counter would not stop talking it up. I kept waiting for it to click and it never did, so I finally dropped it around issue 9 and told him why. He just shrugged and moved on to the next customer, which taught me that loving a book is personal and no hype can change that. Do you give a series past 3 issues or bail faster?
Giving a book 12 issues is way too generous when the first 3 should already tell you if the story and art are worth your time. Comics cost too much money these days to keep buying something just because the shop guy swears it gets good later. Dropping it at issue 9 was the right call and that shrug from him says more about his sales pitch than your taste.
