Hit 500 comic books in my collection last week and now I'm debating if quantity matters more than quality

Honestly, I've been buying dollar bin issues for years to pad the numbers, but finding that single key issue in a stack of junk felt way more rewarding than hitting the count, so which side do you lean toward, the thrill of the milestone or the hunt for the rare one?

Oh man, I actually saw this play out with my buddy Dave. He was all about hitting that 1000 comic milestone and bought like fifty copies of some random Civil War tie-in just to get there. But then he ended up opening a box he got from a yard sale and there was a first appearance of a minor X-Men character in there, nothing crazy valuable but it was in great shape. He told me later that finding that one beat out the whole feeling of crossing the 1000 mark by a mile. So for me, the thrill of the hunt always wins out over just stacking up the numbers.

Jump off what your buddy said, the hunt's half the fun for sure. There's nothing like that dumb luck of finding a gem you weren't even looking for, makes the whole stack feel worth it.
