Dropped $40 on a Silver Age key issue that turned out to be a reprint from the 90s

Bought what I thought was an Amazing Spider-Man #50 from a seller at a tiny convention outside Phoenix, didn't check the inside cover for the reprint marking, and now I'm stuck with a book that's worth maybe 3 bucks has anyone else gotten burned by those glossy reprints that look exactly like the originals?

Man, that's rough. My buddy Steve bought a copy of Fantastic Four #52 at a flea market back in '08, same exact thing, got all excited until he flipped to the inside back cover and saw that little black box. He still brings it up every time we hit a show.

Forty bucks for a fancy coaster, that's a deal I guess. At least it'll look good on a bookshelf from three feet away. Silver lining is you now have a built in test to see which friends actually know their comics.
