Appreciation post: the long boxes at a shop in Akron changed how I sort my collection
Stopped by a comic shop in Akron last Saturday while visiting my sister, and the owner had his back issues filed by story arc instead of strictly alphabetical. I always thought alphabetical was the only sane way to run a collection, mostly because that is how every shop near me does it. But watching him pull a full run for a customer in under 2 minutes made me rethink my whole setup at home. Now I am 4 boxes into re-sorting my own stuff by arc, and finding related issues is way easier. Anyone else sort by story instead of title, or am I about to regret this in 6 months?
Sorting by title always felt like the only way that made sense to me too, mostly out of habit more than anything. But I hit a wall last year trying to pull a full crossover run and just stood there like an idiot flipping through six boxes. Switched to arcs after that and never looked back.
