Warning: the guy at my local roaster in Portland told me dark roast is just burnt coffee and people should stop pretending otherwise
I was standing in line at a small roaster on SE Division in Portland and overheard the owner telling a customer that dark roast is basically a way to hide bad beans, and I almost said something right there. I have been drinking dark roast for 12 years and I think a good dark roast has more body and a finish you cannot get from a light roast, so I think he was just pushing his own light roast line. Does anyone else think the "light roast is always better" thing is just a trend, or am I the one who is wrong here?
