Vent: watched my espresso go from perfect to bitter in just 3 weeks
Honestly, I was getting amazing shots from my Gaggia Classic for like six months straight. Then three weeks ago I noticed the taste changed, going from sweet to this harsh bitter bite. I finally figured out it was my grinder burrs getting dull from all those light roast beans. Has anyone else had their flavor drop off that fast out of nowhere?

Tbh three weeks for burrs to go dull from light roasts doesn't sound right, might be something else going on.

Burrs going dull in three weeks from light roasts sounds like user error or a defect, not the beans lol. My grinder is a piece of junk entry level thing and I've put pounds of light roasted Ethiopian through it without noticing any slowdown. You'd have to be grinding rocks to kill burrs that fast, or maybe someone forgot to season them properly and ran them dry. I've definitely done dumb stuff like that myself with new gear so I get it, but blaming the roast type feels off. Could be a bad batch of burrs or maybe the grinder is overheating and killing the temper on the steel. Three weeks is way too quick for normal wear even with the hardest beans around.
