Unpopular opinion: The best coffee upgrade I ever made was a $20 scale, not a $200 grinder
I spent years chasing better gear, convinced a fancy grinder was the key. After buying a high-end model, my coffee was good, but not the leap I expected. Then I started weighing my beans and water with a basic kitchen scale. The difference in consistency was immediate. My morning cup went from 'sometimes great' to 'perfect every single time' for the last six months. So, is precision in your process more important than just buying expensive equipment? I'm curious what others think made the biggest jump in their brew quality.

My cheap scale showed me my pour-over technique was all over the place, so I started timing my pours too. That combo of weight and time made a bigger difference than any new gadget.

Seriously? It's just coffee.

Whoa, wait - you're saying you actually weigh your coffee beans every single time? That seems like a lot of extra work for something I just eyeball while half asleep. I guess if you're that serious about consistency it makes sense, but my taste buds aren't refined enough to notice a few grams here or there.
