Unpopular opinion: my best coffee week was actually my worst
Three weeks ago my French press broke on a Monday morning. I cracked and bought a $8 plastic pour over cone from the grocery store. For the next 5 days I had to actually watch water drip instead of just pushing a plunger. You know what? Those cups tasted better than anything I made in the last year. Was it the slower brew time or just me paying attention for once? Has anyone else stumbled into a better routine by accident?

Read this thing recently about how going manual makes you actually taste your coffee more because your brain has to work for it a bit. Makes total sense when I think about it. When you're just pressing a plunger on autopilot you're not really present in the moment, you know? Having to watch that water drip forces you to slow down and pay attention to the smell and the color and everything. I bet that $8 cone gave you better coffee than any expensive gadget could. Sometimes the friction is the whole point, lol.

Ngl, that's exactly it. The whole ritual of doing it by hand forces you to be in the moment instead of just zoning out. It's like the grind is part of the payoff.
