Tried the 'pour over only' challenge for a month and my electric kettle almost quit on me

So I decided to ditch my auto drip machine for a full month and go strictly pour over with a V60. Three weeks in, my old Hamilton Beach kettle started cutting out at 195 degrees instead of boiling which totally threw off my bloom phase. I ended up having to grab a temp controlled gooseneck from Target for $45 just to finish the experiment. Has anyone else had a cheap kettle ruin a brew routine like that?

Wait, a Hamilton Beach gave out on you mid bloom? I'd be furious if my kettle crapped out during the degassing stage like that.

Blisters on a cheap kettle are part of the pour over tax, aren't they? That $45 Target gooseneck is basically the same thing you'd pay $150 for with a different sticker on it.
